About the Name Paddee

Although female PD names have fallen out of fashion in recent times, there has been a slight rise in the use of the male version.  Perhaps this is due to the decidedly conservative -- and even puritanical -- combination of the letters P and D. The P is the flagship of paternal authority and when it conjoins with the dominant, disciplined D, gives rise to words like prudish, padre, pedagogue, pedantic, perdition and pedigree.

There’s a recognizable aspect of the traditionalist in the PD names, and these are people whose values are firmly tuned to the importance of family, reputation and old-fashioned hard work. The PDs’ orderly personalities abhor uncertainty and they can be counted on to organize and arrange the work setting. And it’s in the work environ that the prim and proper PDs prove to be the self-appointed guardians of the rulebook; taking it upon themselves to monitor the workflow and motivate the rank and file. And while the PDs can be a little overbearing to those not accustomed to being micromanaged, those with a vested interest in the project’s outcome will appreciate their calm presence.

The PDs’ rare combination of patience and empathy gives them the ability to hold other people accountable without offending them. A rebuke from a PD boss will be so gently applied that most people won’t even realize they’ve been reprimanded until someone else points it out. PDs are intuitive as well, and will readily drop their bossy dispositions when they sense that someone is being intimidated.

In the workplace PDs are those go-to-guys who will shoulder any burden without complaint. This doesn’t mean that PDs are without their own selfish needs, for they’ll always manage to find a way to meet their goals even it means putting on a mask for the occasion. Shrewd thinkers with foresight and logic, there’s always an air of purpose to their actions; and even though they’ll make time to have some fun along the way; these are no wild party animals. When a PD entertains, don’t expect any unpredictable shenanigans. It’s going to be a sedate affair with just the right amounts of alcohol and witty repartee.

The PDs’ intrinsic calm is especially welcome in touchy situations where their social graces go a long way in smoothing out conflict. But don’t think for a second that the sensitive PDs are pushovers. Although their emotions may sometimes need stroking, their uncommon intellects will subtly put control of the relationship in their capable hands.
