MR names have traditionally been some of the most popular names in the U.S. and have recently seen a surge in usage. Their prevalence may have something to do with the fact that the letter R is the symbol for all things cheekily romantic -- as the initial letter of racy, randy, raunchy, rapture, ravish, reproductive, and ravage, its rolling tones infuse a sense of impudent passion into names in which it appears – while the letter M is the initial letter of all things merciful and maternal. The M is also the key component in the word mother in practically every language on earth, and it’s hardly surprising that the combination of the M and R evokes the warmly sensual resonance of the words summer, glamour, demure, murmur, merry and shimmer.
Careers for such gregarious people nearly always include a lot of people-contact in jobs like customer service, teaching, or retail. If there’s any MRs in your office, chances are that they’re the ones everybody looks to for the latest news on who’s doing what and who’s doing who. They have their fingers on the social pulse as well and are and are up on the best dance clubs, restaurants and parties. Even if they’re not the center of attention, they thrive on the feedback that comes with being part of a group.
For all their childlike exuberance and altruistic leanings, it’s sometimes difficult for MRs to accept reality as it is. They really want to believe the vision they see from behind their rose-colored glasses, and while this may keep them on an even emotional keel, it doesn’t always serve them well in their professional lives. But one advantage to having this kind of optimistic perspective is that if they can at least envision the world the way they want it to be, then at least they have a shot at making it a reality. MRs are extraordinarily capable people when they set their minds to something, and even if they occasionally lack focus, can be counted on to make positive impacts in their workplaces and social lives.
Unfortunately the MRs’ idealism sometimes takes a beating in the realm of romance, for it’s a rare lover who can live up to their glossy notions of love. Luckily, time has a way of weathering the sheen from their romantic sanguinity and those MRs who get married a little later in life have an excellent chance of success. It should be said that MRs are at their best when they’re in committed relationships. Once there’s someone is watching their backs, they know they can relax enough to do the things that matter most: nurturing and providing for their families.
