These unisex names have enjoyed undiminished popularity for the past fifty years, and their complex combination of letters makes for equally complex personalities. The letter D – the icon of dignity and dominance -- is associated with the qualities of demonstrativeness, discipline and divinity. But the letter N is unquestionably the symbol of negativity (no, not, naught, nil, nada, never, nowhere, and nothing) and conspires with the D to form dank words like: damn, demand, deny, demon, dragon, and kidnap. Happily, these negative influences are largely offset by the appearance of the letter L -- the icon of love, laughter, life, liberty and lip-licking – so it’s not surprising that DNLs are invariably described as having an expansive set of emotional and intellectual talents.
It’s easy to understand why DNL people are popular with the opposite sex, for these are people who clearly enjoy life’s little pleasures and are very willing to share their emotional wealth. With supreme confidence in their ability to handle themselves in any kind of situations, DNLs are not going to be thrown off-balance by anything short of a full emergency. It’s not that DNLs are oblivious to what’s going on around them -- in fact they are extraordinarily aware of their surroundings – it’s that DNLs have that rare ability to use their intellects to overpower their emotional responses.
The DNLs’ keen observation skills help them to understand the motivations of others and are put to good use in their business dealings. With an ability to communicate effectively, DNLs naturally gravitate to taking the lead in social and business situations and have the killer instinct necessary to lead large corporations. Still, DNLs have an instinctive understanding of the rules of hierarchy. So while they might be the top dog at any given moment, they’ll happily concede their leadership role if a bigger dog comes along. (If DNLs do have a few control issues, they hide it well.) Like all names that begin with the letter D, DNLs are likely to make a lot of money. And this is not because they are particularly materialistic, but because they enjoy the challenges of business and have an outstanding work ethic to boot.
Despite their warm dispositions and gregarious natures, becoming intimate with DNLs can prove to be a challenge. In part, it’s because it can be difficult to believe that someone can be so consistently optimistic. Once you accept that their glass is really ¾ full, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll become a disciple of one of these effervescent souls
