About the Name Taalib

When a name begins with the triumphantly trumpeting letter T, the T’s explosive energy heralds a person with a sharp mind and an easy laugh. But when the name also features the brave and belligerent letter B, it’s going to take on a decidedly in-your-face tone. We see this forceful combination at work in words like: fastball, outburst, hotblooded, outback, and football. In fact, the TB is such an exceptionally masculine root that only the calming influence of the TH phoneme makes it appropriate for the feminine names (Tabitha and Tabatha). The TH is the symbol of all things thankful, thoughtful, motherly, blithe and smooth.

There's something vaguely dangerous about the TBs’ combination of principle and steel and people find themselves treading carefully around these potentially volatile people. Those who bear TB names need to be mindful of the effect that their powerful presence has on others. Perhaps it’s their tendency to be overbearing, or their sometimes-annoying sense of self-satisfaction, that alienates prospective friends; but whatever the reason, TBs can be forgiven for their occasionally imperious flare-ups. It’s hard to be humble when you’ve got the world at your feet.

TBs don’t have much trouble with making friends and can afford to be choosy when it comes to selecting their intimates. It’s almost as if TBs feel the need to assert their superiority by shutting some people out while letting others in – ‘playing favorites’ as it were. But this kind of behavior can be expected among hard-driven perfectionists, and once you get past their high-handed bent, you’ll find they have a lot to offer in the way of friendship. Besides, if people realized the inner turmoil that results when TBs confront their own shortcomings, they wouldn’t take this kind of behavior to heart. When all is said and done, TBs are far more judgmental of themselves than they are with any of their friends.

Since TBs aren’t the sort to reach out for intimacy, love and marriage may be a long time coming. By taking a hands-off approach – and letting relationships come to them – they get the chance to evaluate their potential partners before committing themselves. Even when they do decide to mate, they’re likely to treat the process with detached precision -- instead of the emotional journey it should be. But TBs are not the kind to run out on their commitments; once they’ve jumped into the deep-end, they will prove to be excellent swimmers.
