About the Name Barabara

The boldly belligerent letter B imparts a sense of unqualified strength to names it initializes. And like all names that feature a double dose of the brash B, these women are imbued with a fiercely independent streak and an unparalleled sense of obduracy. When the B teams up with the randy, ravishing, and romantic letter R, the resulting combination is accountable for the impetuosity found in the words; brat, brash, brilliant, brash, brooding, braggart, break, brittle, bright, and Barbarians; thename given to the hordes that sacked Rome in 410 AD.

For all their brooding strength, BRBR women exhibit a complex set of emotional contradictions. On the one hand, these are bright and appealing people who are usually at the center of attention. But at some very deep level, lives a misunderstood compassionate softie. Paradoxically, it’s this gentle core that fuels the BRBRs fierce outer behavior. Consider as an example; how their strong sense of justice compels them to aggressively defend their positions, no matter how much discomfort they produce in their listeners. Caught up in the passions of their arguments, they are articulate, relentless and even a little intimidating. It’s not that they would object to their ideas being challenged, but they don’t suffer fools gladly and certainly won’t abide a line of reasoning that isn’t carefully thought out. Friends and family soon come to understand these motivations, but to the casual eye these outbursts can be downright nerve-wracking. Nonetheless, these upstanding individuals refuse to kowtow to public opinion and will remain true to their core beliefs.

Even with their occasional failures of tact, the BRBRs’ fundamentally altruistic natures make them ideal for any of the helping professions, particularly counseling, medicine or social work; and it’s in these environments that their gentler side percolates to the surface. However, when trapped in jobs or lifestyles that chafe their independent spirits, they soon revert to their abrasive and sullen alter egos.

There is no more joyful creature than a BRBR in love (but you’d never know it from her behavior). Perhaps motivated by her internal fear of rejection, she has a tendency to restrain her affectionate instincts. This kind of behavior is apt to be misinterpreted as yet another sign of her controlling tendencies, but with the help of an insightful and persistent mate, it’s inevitable that she’ll reach her true potential as a lover.
