About the Name Mathew

The softly comforting sounds of the TH phoneme are responsible for the reassuring essence found in the words: mother, father, thanks, therapy, thoughtful, theism and thrive. So when it occurs in names initialized by the maternal, motherly, and merciful M, these names take on a distinctly parental flavor that suggests people who are very comfortable with themselves but perhaps a little too concerned with the issues of others.

It should be said that MTHs aren’t the kind of people to make rash decisions. While most of us don’t even know what we’re going to do tomorrow, your MTH friend probably has the next ten years all planned out. These are take-charge people who won’t sit around waiting for something to happen; they know where they’re going and spend a lot of time reckoning how to get there.

MTHs have a sense of obligation to all living things and are typically enmeshed in rich and profoundly spiritual philosophies. They’re believers in the dictum that everything happens for a reason and their unquenchable faith in the ways of the universe is the foundation on which they build their successful lives. Their outstanding communication skills make them fine motivators and leaders, although with their aversion to confrontation they are not the proselytizing types.

The MTHs’ natural leadership skills come in handy in the workplace and, even though people with M names are on the bottom of the list when it comes to making money, MTHs are notable exceptions. This is particularly true when MTHs feel a sense of ownership in their work, and employers would be well advised to allow their MTH employees to write their own job-descriptions.

Falling in love with an MTH is easy. But before they’re going to fall in love with you, you’re going to have to prove your character. As approachable as they are, these aren’t the types to leap into romantic trysts unless secure in the knowledge that you are capable of loving them unconditionally. This is why the MTHs’ lovers are usually introduced to them from within their tight circle of friends, and why they always seem to share common interests and values. Having an MTH to cherish is definitely worth the trouble: few people pour as much energy and affection into their families as they do.

It seems fated that the nurturing MTHs will have children, and when they do, these offspring will be nourished with intelligent discipline and total commitment. In return for their parent’s infinite patience, children will do everything they can to make their parent proud.
