LD names convey an impression of a well-rounded intelligence modulated by a loving core and carried off with exceptional style. The letter L -- the symbol of love, liberty, laughter, learning and law – contributes a sense of spiritual awareness, while the D -- the flagship letter of dignity, dapper and drama – tells us that these names belong to men and women who glide through life with enviable ease. But there’s also a shadowy side to those who bear LD names, for the L is also known for its association with the darker aspects of love -- lust, leering, lasciviousness, and lip-licking -- and the D is responsible for Devil, demon, destruction, doomsday, danger and damnation.
So don’t be surprised to find your usually easygoing and genial LD friend retreating into a surly mood for no apparent reason -- as if Dr. Jekyll was struggling for equal time with Mr. Hyde. In the scheme of things, it’s not much of a problem (at least from the LD’s perspective) as both these aspects are essential to smooth operation of the LD’s complex personality. Friends are well served by bearing in mind that with darkness comes light and with intensity comes passion.
LDs are political animals with an aptitude for creating alliances and a nose for ferreting out enemies. This serves them well in the workplace, where like most people whose names begin with the letter L, they find themselves in the highest tax brackets. Careers for these extraordinarily capable people will usually encompass a creative component – all the better to express their dramatic sides -- and LDs genuinely seem to enjoy hard work. LDs are at their most productive when working alone and employers are often frustrated by their reluctance to join the team. It's not that LDs aren’t willing to listen to advice: they seem genuinely interested in hearing other points of view before doing it their own way regardless. Still, at the end of the day no one questions the LD’s ability to get the job done right.
The LDs’ brand of unrepentant individualism may well trigger friction in their intimate relationships, but as long as they keep a tight rein on their impulsive instincts they’ll prove to be fiercely committed mates. Still, the success of their relationships will have a lot to do with the patience of their partners. Mates expecting predictability in their marriages will have their work cut out for them, but those partners who allow the LDs’ moods to wash over them -- instead of building dams to contain them – will enjoy truly fruitful relationships.
