About the Name Victorian

As the initial letter of all things negative (no, not, nyet, never, nada, naught, nothing, and nix), the letter N has a tendency to color names with pessimism and misgiving. And even when the N conjoins with the vivacious and virile letter V, it manages to infuse words with a sense of jaundiced passion: vain, venal, vendetta, vent, violent, vixen, vengeance, and Vulcan (the Roman God of fire). Because the VN root is a melding of two very different elements (the enthusiastic and the cynical), VN people tend to struggle to find balance in their lives. But from this conflict emerges an extraordinarily energetic and artistic personality whose raison d’etre has to do with uncovering of the secrets of universe as well their own convoluted impulses.

VNs are down-to-earth people who get a kick out of bantering with anyone willing to participate, and making friends with them will prove to be an uncomplicated business. There are few things that VNs enjoy more than hanging out with friends over a cup of coffee or a beer, but don’t expect them to sit still for too long; life is too deliciously distracting.

VNs are usually in no hurry to discover their life’s calling and often elect to put off college in lieu of traveling. Sometimes, they might go on job-hopping streaks and become Jacks-of-all-trades (which is why so many VNs are the go-to guys for fixing cranky computers or dripping taps). This inherent unwillingness to make up their minds often ends up costing them in their professional lives. VNs simply can’t shake the notion that making no decision is better than making the wrong one.

VNs are emotionally and financially self-contained, and their extraordinary gregariousness stops well short of ever relying on others. They’re methodical and considerate, and even if they’ll admit to being a little on the conservative side, are the people most likely to organize the class-reunion and manage small companies. With this kind of stability, VNs function well in careers that call for a high degree of mental and physical fitness. They’re the go-to people when an emergency occurs and they aren’t ones to blame others for their mistakes. Supervisors of VNs would do well to watch out for their own jobs. These people are born to be upwardly mobile and will eventually percolate to the top ranks.

If you’re hoping to pair up with a VN there’s one thing to keep in mind: although they won’t mind being criticized, they will not abide having their integrity questioned. Other than this, your VN mates will give you the same leeway to make mistakes as they do themselves.
