About the Name Oats

The promise of excited surprise created by the emotionally impulsive letter O, imbues the OS names with a distinctively restless quality. And its union with the sensually sultry S (or Z) sound, generates words laden with the naughty sensual overtones of rosy, posy, bosom, cosmic, floozy, cozy, flossy, goose, and loose.

So it’s not surprising that people whose names fall under the OS category are often described as having an endearing air of irascibility and a feisty (but unintimidating) presence. It may be hard to know what’s going on in their heads at times, but this suits the OSs perfectly. They relish the man-of-mystery reputation that comes with being oh-so enigmatic.

Perhaps because of their emotionally sensitive natures, OS people like to ponder and pontificate. With minds that effortlessly digest and index information, OSs have quite a scientific approach to problem-solving… it’s almost as if they never outgrew their childhood curiosities for how and why things work. They’ll spend much of their time in their heads mulling over everything from philosophy, to money and relationships. They also possess the gift of self-expression and often turn to the written word, which makes them ideal journalists, researchers, and speechwriters. When OSs have the benefit of solid educational backgrounds, their passion for knowledge can make them authorities on practically any subject, including the vagaries of the opposite sex.

Marriage to an OS will be nothing short of a complete intellectual and emotional package. Dinner parties, replete with witty table repartee and home-cooked meals, will be the norm. And even though an OS might have given his heart to one woman, friends and casual acquaintances will remain the mainstay of his social life. She who would marry an OS should possess a natural evenness to balance his outgoing personality, and might have to accept the stigma of being the wet blanket over the his restless lifestyle.

Children -- although not always a welcome addition to the OS’s family -- will be doted upon and constantly challenged to broaden their intellectual frontiers. Still, chances are that they’ll quickly figure out their way around their parent’s somewhat laissez-faire style of discipline, and if they survive the OS’ frequent lectures, will profit from a rewarding friendship with him in later years.
