About the Name Maat

Although the letter M is the symbol of all things motherly, maternal, matronly, and maidenly, it loses some of its knee-jerk sentimentality when combined with the tightly-wound, triumphant, and trumpeting letter T. This is why MT combination so often appears in words that exhibit a distinct bite: mint, mettle, molten, mutiny, martyr, meaty, and metal. If MT people exude confident and self-assured airs that sometimes border on smirks, there’s usually a good reason for this: they are people who manage to get their own way without being overbearing or offensive (most of the time).

MTs are adept at hiding their inner motives and many people think that they’re a little too smooth for their own good. But MTs aren’t intentionally malicious and really don’t understand why anyone would ever question their motives. To their way of thinking there can’t be anything wrong with going after what you want. Besides; isn’t it all just part of the game of life in which nothing is so serious that it can’t be laughed over a round of drinks?

Still, MTs aren’t above putting their own needs ahead of others when the stakes are high enough, and even close friends will sustain a few bruises if they inadvertently get in the way of the MTs’ carefully laid plans.

If you rarely see MTs procrastinating, it’s because they are experts at making themselves at least look productive. But they aren’t the sort to dawdle when they get up in the morning and usually have their entire days planned in advance. This kind of single-mindedness proves to be beneficial in the workplace where employers often hold them up as examples. Their ability to sniff the wind for new business possibilities makes them ideal in sales, R&D, design, and computer programming, but MTs work best alone and don’t like to be bothered with what they consider trivialities: office gossip and social affairs. But just because MTs don’t like to mix business and pleasure doesn’t mean that they’re loners. On the contrary; they thrive on emotional exchanges and are quite unsettled when deprived of intimate human contact for any length of time.

The MTs’ confidence really comes to the fore when it involves matters of the heart. If someone happens to catch their eye, they won’t believe for a second that they’re not going to be able to make headway. Even an outright rejection will be taken as a direct challenge and many MTs admit that their current spouse had to be won over with some perseverance. Judging by the high success rate of MT marriages, it pays to have the persistence of a telemarketer.
