When the sultry letter S is paired with the hushed letter H, it takes on the reassuring tones of the words: shy, shame, shalom, sheepish, mushy, squishy, blush, and bashful. This is why, when soothing their crying children, mothers often use high-frequency words like shh or hush. And because the letter L is the icon for the most important things in life (love, liberty, loyalty, learning, and laughter), SHLs universally exhibit a high internal happiness quotient (even if they tend to be on the reserved side).
While SHLs may come across as being a bit subdued, they are not people to drain energy from others. It could be said in fact, that on balance, SHLs put more into their relationships than almost anyone you’ll meet. And SHLs don’t behave this way from some selfish need to be liked: they do it simply because they have immense hearts and ample emotional energy to spare.
If SHLs also have a reputation for being a bit flighty, it doesn’t seem to thwart their success in their chosen careers. It does, however, make for a lot of unanticipated adventures along the way and it’s sometimes impossible to predict what SHLs are going to do next. It’s hard enough for SHLs to keep track of their own plans… let alone expecting someone else to pin them down. Still, SHLs seem to sense that people find their whimsical ways endearing and make little effort to curb their capricious ways.
Like most people whose names begin with the letter S, SHLs have to work hard for their money. One reason they’re not on the list of highest income earners has to do with the fact that SHLs put job satisfaction way ahead of everything else. Working in jobs that demand concentration or attention to detail just isn’t the SHLs’ thing. They’re much more likely to blossom when working in the public realm where they can take advantage of their uncommon social skills.
SHLs can be relied upon for solid friendship… even if it takes a long time coming. They’re too smart to place their trust in just anyone, but once you’ve earned their respect, you’ll have it for life. Loyalty is one of their highest ideals and you can rest easy in the knowledge that they’ll be there for you in a pinch.
You can expect your courtship with your SHL to be a complicated business, mainly because you’ll have to compete for his or her time. It’s not that SHLs play hard to get… they are hard to get. But patience and persistence are held in high esteem and, chances are, the successful suitor will have these qualities in spades. Children are natural and welcome additions to the SHLs’ lives and these are the types of parents who make childrearing look so easy, that everyone hates them.
