About the Name Calamity

Like all names that begin with the crisply concise letter C, the CLT root conjures up images of those confident individuals who know their own minds and always get what they want. In part, it’s because the CL phoneme is associated with words like; clear, clever, clergy, clarion and classy, whilethe terminating letter T lends a masculine air of triumphant tenaciousness. These forces conspire to give the CLT names an intensity and dogged intelligence that is impossible to ignore.

With such supreme self-confidence, CLT people can’t help but give off an intimidating vibe -- though their intent is usually just the opposite. They are natural extroverts who relish any opportunity to sharpen their minds and exercise their powerful wills. There’s also a ‘hail-fellow-well-met’ quality to the CLTs, who thrive on meeting new people and experiencing fresh challenges. Trying to redirect CLTs from something they’ve set their mind to, is like trying to stop the U.S. 3rd Infantry.

When set on the right track, the CLT’s considerable focus can be harnessed to accomplish nearly anything -- although there’s always the risk that innocent bystanders will get the wind knocked out of them in the process. Close friends soon learn to stand on the sidelines when the CLT steamroller gets moving. But CLTs have no interest in harming others as they barrel towards their goals, even if they are often accused of being insensitive to the feelings of those around them. And if it seems that the CLT is incapable of lying -- even to flatter someone by telling them what they want to hear -- it’s probably because they simply have no clue what someone else might want to hear.

Marriage and parenthood suit CLTs just fine as long as they can stay firmly planted on center stage, and the most compatible mates for the CLTs are those who don’t have a particular agenda of their own. Riding in the freight train is easier than trying to steer it, and promises an exhilarating adventure for someone who’s happy just to check out the scenery. But the rewards in hitching yourself to the CLT’s star can be deeper too; they have rich inner lives, which they’ll obligingly share with anyone who wins their heart.

Because CLTs are naturally curious themselves, they can relate to their children on a level that makes other parents envious. The children of the CLT will be treated to the same wild ride as everyone else, and be expected to keep up with their parent’s idealistic lifestyle.
