About the Name Badder

When the bossy, brash tones of the letter B combine with the dark and domineering shadows of the letter D, they denote brooding individuals who run the risk of taking themselves too seriously. We see the BD combination’s gloomy effects in words like; bad, abduct, subdue, obdurate, bedlam, and abdicate. But those who choose to end their names with the high-pitched Y or IE sound (as in Buddy), circumvent some of these darker aspects and are typical of a more jovial individual. In general, however, BDs are the types who focus on the half-empty glass.

This is not to suggest that BDs spend their spare time moping around and looking for the worst in everything. But they do have the philosophy that if one pays attention to the bad and the ugly in life, then the good will take care of itself. You might not want these qualities in your psychologist, but you’ll certainly appreciate the value of this approach if you’ve visited your stockbroker recently.

When it comes to career decisions, BDs tend to choose jobs in which they will be creatively challenged and have a clear path to top. They are ambitious, are quick learners and prove eager to share their knowledge with coworkers. But like all alpha-males and females, they have a tendency to take control of projects without even realizing that they are doing so. And given their ability to stamp their personalities onto everything they do, this often proves intimidating to the timid who are advised to give them a wide berth.

The same admonition holds true for those embroiled in a BD romance, and unless you’re prepared to frequently challenge the BD’s take-charge attitude, you’ll find yourself playing second-fiddle in the relationship. But it’s nothing personal; BDs’ are just used to having things go their own way. If you want to give yourself a migraine by butting heads with the BDs’ powerful personas… go ahead. You’ll certainly get no quarrel from the BDs who are always up for opportunities to test their intellectual-wrestling skills.

These strong silent types can be tough to figure out at first. But for all their aloof dignity, there’s also a little bit of a goofball just under the surface, and when given enough time for the relationship to settle into its rhythms, partners will encounter an upbeat and impeccably loyal side to these otherwise serious individuals.
