About the Name Thelma

Although the letter T is definitively associated with all things energetic and triumphant, its amalgamation with the holy, humanistic, hallowed letter H gives it the spiritual bent we find in the words, thankful, empathic, thoughtful, motherly, blithe and smooth. TH people have a calming effect on others… much like a mother's firm voice to a wayward child. They are natural comforters with an innate understanding of other people's needs and a clear vision for solving problems.

With all this down-home goodness, you might think the TH is just too good to be true. Actually, this soft gentility can also be considered one of their greatest downfalls. They can be so agreeable that it’s difficult not to take them for granted.

When THs think they’re being flexible, others often see them being weak. But don’t ever push them past their zone of integrity. Ever! All the pent up annoyances from years of compliancy will spur them to tackle you head-on, and are liable to burst forth in a torrent of indignation. Think of the affable (if insipid) Thelma inthe movie, Thelma & Louise, who had to endure a great deal of shoving before finding her assertive groove.

THs aren’t ones to accumulate their resources through intimidation, and when it comes to choosing careers, instinctively look for jobs in which they are not required to do a lot of ladder-climbing. It rails against their altruistic natures to push others around for the sake of their own gain; they’d much rather spend their lives helping others to meet their goals. To this end, they are often found in the counseling or education professions, or any job that doesn’t involve sales.

THs have remarkably expressive features and when engaged in conversations, their faces will readily betray their emotions. They always manage to seem interested in what their partner is saying – perhaps cocking their heads to one side or adopting an adoring expression – and being one of their friends will require remarkably little work on your part.

Faith and idealism come with the territory when you’re trying to court a TH, for when out on a date with one of these attentive individuals, you’ll never have to worry about stolen glances toward members of the opposite sex. THs will often choose a strong personality to balance their natural reserve, and those lucky enough to be selected will discover that it’s as a lover, that the TH’s star shines brightest. Marriage partners can expect plenty of affection (and a bit of smothering) from these naturally bonding spirits.
