About the Name Pamela

There’s a decided conflict that underscores the essence of the PM names.  The letter P is the fundamental symbol of male authority that we find in words like paternal, power, priest, patron, papa, and pedantic, while the M is the icon of feminine maternal love demonstrated by the words: matriarch, maiden, madam, mama, mother, and Mary Magdalene. So there’s an internal battle waging war for control of the PM heart... a classic struggle between male and female, which expresses itself in a variety of ways. Perhaps it will be in bouts of depression or the occasional emotional outburst; but one thing is sure. With two parental icons at the core of these names, these women are amongst the most sensitive and attentive mothers in the world.

Those PMs who choose to use the shortened version of their given name (e.g. Pam from Pamela) are saying much about how they perceive themselves. When people contract their names from two to one syllable, they subconsciously portray themselves as no-frills, unpretentious individuals whose unselfishness is evident through their insistence on informality.

Beware a PM on the rampage out to prove a point, for the flipside of her sensitive personality is a stubborn streak that rivals a rhinoceros in heat. Once she’s managed to build up a head of steam, changing her direction is nigh on impossible even when she senses that she’s on the wrong track. The key to handling a PM under these conditions is to short-circuit her high-energy fireballs by keeping a cool head and playing catch-me-if-you-can.

PM people are those no-nonsense types whose inherent curiosity makes them great sources for the latest news and updates on the social scene. These natural-born newshound are never out of the loop – chasing down everything from the great issues of the day to the gossip on the Estrogen Network. Their perceptive side may be a great tool for discerning other people’s moods, but is of little help in understanding their own intricate emotions.

PMs tend to rely on their partners to be their sounding boards, but sharing physical activities falls pretty low on their priority list. Most partners understand that the PM has far more important things to do in life… after all, she has a family to run and social appointments to keep. With just a little warm understanding from her mate, the PM will prove to be the most aggressively loyal partner a man could ever want.
